Long overdue to be featured here this Paper Chair by Mathias Bengtsson. It was Polley who first noticed it and put a photo on our FB page even before she got involved as one of our contributors.

MR59 Chair by Avrami Rakovsky
The other chair that that got my attention while posting Upcoming @ NJIT is this MR59 Chair by Avrami Rakovsky, completely of cork.

In the words of Avrami:

The MR59 Chair is a study of fluidity and manipulation of cork as a material. The idea was to manufacture a chair using cork in a way that would seem impossible. The cork is a sustainable material that lends itself to lightness. It also has a natural springiness that allows for natural cushioning.

Corseted Chair by Aiveen Daly

Corseted Chair by Aiveen Daly
Via a fellow pinterester, Stacey Sheppard, I found a chair worthy of remembring this day of The Wedding. While everybody was eagerly awaiting Kate to appear in her wedding dress, I instinctively knew the dress would be corseted. And I was right:

Kate wore a lace overlay over her arms and shoulders. She was also predicted to wear a long train, to take advantage of the Abbey’s long aisle; that was also confirmed – the train was two metres 70 centimetres of ivory silk tulle. The dress had a sweet-heart neckline and a tightly corseted waist.

Njit is not American for the Russian Njet, or NO!, but an abbreviation of New Jersey Institute of Technology. Starting May 2 they will show chair designs of third year students under the prestigeous title NJIT Industrial Design Furniture Fair 2011. The exhibition will last until May 7, 2011
