The anonymous “Alice In Wonderland” style wicker Chair found on Craiglists

I was fooling around in Craiglists San Francisco Antique Sales today and found this exquisite, ”Alice In Wonderland” style, wicker chair. Not only is it ornately woven, what seams to be like metal also shows great details and extreme uniqueness. The reason why I call it the “Alice In Wonderland” style chair is because it reminds me of the Queen of Hearts(red queen) played by Helena Bonham Carter, with a similar large red head and relatively small body. Among my imagination, any identification of this chair will be highly appreciated!

Cnet has an excellent multimedia coverage of the much awaited IPad presentation by Apple’s Steve Jobs yesterday.

I’ve a feeling the easy chair is a LC Le Corbusier derivative, but am not sure…have to source more photos from the net.

Do you have an idea?

One of my readers would like some help from other reader with determining the provenance of this interesting S Curved Plywood Tripod Chair.

Browsing the web I could only come up with the following more or less similar chair designs:

Bellevue chair by Andre BlocThe Bellevue Chair by French architect painter and sculptor Andre Bloc and

sergio-fahrer-commo_eaBrasilean Sergio Faher’s Commo Chair

However both lack the characteristic rib reinforcing the back. Any ideas?

Unknown Steel Chair with Chrome Finish 4

Chair by Tony Paul Raymore

Remember me showing you this mystery steel chair frame with chrome finish way back in July 2008?

Recently I got an e-mail from Bill Johnson of Retro Vegas who believes he found a bit more about this chair over at an auction site Live Auctioneers who attributed this chair to Tony Paul / Raymore.

However a comment to the post attributes the chair to Edward Higgins…He has one with gold finish and original seating. I hope he reads this and provides a photo of his one.

Ah there is a site devoted to Tony Paul who is alive and kicking at 90: Tony Paul Design and it is a blog. So I asked them to comment here.

Can any of my readers help determine this mystery chair?

Update November 30, 2009:

Maxima Chair by WilliamSawayar

This photo gives a bit better impression of the chair.

One of my readers gave the answer within a day. Simone, who is connected with Austrian Designer Thomas Feichtner (about whom I have to publish much more) pointed us to the site of Sawaya and Moroni. The chair is the Maxima Armchair of a whole series of Maxima chairs, designed by William Sawaya.

Knowing the name I also discovered a blog dedicated to Hospitality Chairs New Hospitality Chairs

Thirdly: I knew I had made a photo of this design myself in another setting and found it:
Maxima Stool by William Sawaya P1050193

Here is the Maxima Stool. A photo I took in Paris recently when visiting the La Suite Shop.

Mystery-Chair-Steel-with-Canvas-or-leather-cover-and-cushion-DSC01783

One of my readers asked me to help her identify this mystery chair a couple of which she’s owned for over 30 years and sent me these photo’s.

Can you help identify these chairs?

Mystery-Chair-DSC01790

I’m giving you details of these photo’s so that you can see it is not a swivel chair and has a peculiar nut and bold connection of the legs with the central rod.

Mystery-Chair-Detaik-DSC01790

Also the way the canvas or leather seating is connected with the legs is typical and nifty.

I like the design and have a feeling they are really comfy to lounge in.

Update

Should have updated this earlier.

Just as Knoll delivered chairs for a feature film, a reader of mine, a USA based producer of feature films, has asked my assistance to source the designer and/or manufacturer of this Solar System Chair.

Some research on this design has learned thus far:

Drinksuff had a couple for sale for US $ 99.-, but they are sold out now. I have pinched their photos to help us find the source.

The Solar System Chair is crafted from stainless steel and has chromed steel legs that will charm any room! The seating and arm rests are filled with a soft foam and finished with a synthetic velvet for superb style and ambience!

It may look uncomfortable but trust us, this stool has class, style and is so unique to sit on you won’t want to get up!

Dimensions:
H 950mm
W 880mm
D 800mm

Drinkstuff had acquired them at the UK Spring Fair

Flatrock mentioned it

Zedomax mentioned it;

TechChee mentioned it
Chair Du Jour has even painted it!
Many more sites including Gizmodo mentioned it, but most refer back to Drinkstuff

I would appreciate any help to find the source of this mystery chair or where to locate it.
