About Adrian Thornber
Sussex, UK based engineer Adrian Thornber worked for many years as a welder and fabricator in the marine industry, then as a property developer. In his latter role he became interested in retro style chairs to furnish a 1960’s minimalist style villa. This led to the development of the” Nirvana Chair” inspired by designs from that period.
Adrian has now produced over 100 chairs in his workshop, personally building each one himself. Bending, welding and polishing the stainless steel, shaping and sewing the sheepskins. Each one takes two to three weeks to produce.
They have been sent to clients all over the world; to Japan, down into Europe and across the USA, including a batch produced for a multi million dollar spa refurbishment project at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Palm Beach, Miami.
These chairs are not available in the shops and are only shown at one or two exhibitions per year, ensuring they remain very exclusive and highly desirable.

This stainless steel barstool is designed by DENNIS SLOOTWEG who has his studio…around the corner in The Hague, the city of this blogger, of all places :-)

Diamond Sofa
The Diamond sofa thought by Samanta Snidaro and Andrea Fino of Sand & Birch design studio is entirely realised in mirror-like aluminium. On the wide stripe 160 crystals of Swarovsky will be disposed creating images. The lamp on its side is a fluorescent or a led one.
The Diamond sofa was thought not only for sitting, but also as an object of very provocative design. It has been studied for entering houses and, at the same time, for inspiring pure luxury.
Sand & Birch is bringing forward a project in which the objects lose their proper primitive functions and acquire other meanings. In this way, the Diamond sofa becomes an expression of predominantly aesthetical value: from just a sofa it becomes a jewel.
The Diamond sofa is produced in numbered limited edition (100 sofas)
Dim: L 150, H 90 (190), P 100 cm

Studio Rafaschierii recently completed an interesting project for a church in Metz: modern chancel furniture in magnesium and glass. Very non-traditional!

As every architect with some self esteem Daniel Libeskind designed a chair. I coined this chair The Diamond Chair, but its official name is Spirit House Chair. It was especially designed for the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, Canada. Libeskind designed a new extension to the museum with the name The Michael Lee-Chin Crystal. I really believed they missed an ad possibility “The Diamond Chair in The Chrystal”, nést pas?

Here is the chair in The Michael Lee-Chin Crystal
Procuction is by Nienkamper… Oops they call the chair the ….. Michael Lee-Chin Crystal.
What do you think?
